God Approves Of You
I really have areas that I struggle in. I try to do the right thing but no matter how well I start the day I fall into the same mistakes and do things that I shouldn't do. I say the wrong thing, entertain the wrong thoughts or lose my temper.
Then my self-talk condemnation hits. I begin telling myself that I'll never be able to change, or that God can't possibly be happy with me. My past cannot be forgiven or forgotten. I feel defeated and condemned as I try to run on the treadmill of working to be someone that God could possibly love.
The truth is that God is working on me. I am not a finished product. He never said that perfect performance was required before He would approve of me. God said that nothing would cause Him to not love me as His child in Jesus.
Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:39
I already have God's love and approval despite my mistakes. Of course, God does not endorse everything that I do. Still, He approves of me, who I am, the person in Christ whom He created me to be. Thankfully despite all of the things that I struggle with, God knows my heart and He has promised to never leave me.
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 31:8
While I may feel broken and failing in my life, I know with a certainty that My Savior lives in me. Nothing happens that He has not allowed. He loves me too much to allow me to stay the way I am. He approves of me because I belong to Him.
My performance will never be perfect here on earth. But the bible says that God hand-chose me before the beginning of the world. He fashioned me and he knows that my heart is sincere.
Do you also beat yourself up when you make mistakes? Do you doubt that God could ever approve of you? If Jesus is your Lord, you already have God's approval. Don't confuse your performance with your identity. You cannot do anything to make God love you more than He already loves you.
When you accepted Christ, you were literally born into a brand new family. You are now a child of the Most High God. Remind yourself now of this. Don't let the enemy steal your joy or witness.
The Lord approves of who you are despite the mistakes that you make. We are His personal ambassadors to a lost and dying world. Don't go through your life feeling wrong on the inside. Shake off the self-shaming and let your life proclaim loudly that you are a favored child of the Living God.
The people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise. Isaiah 43:21
God knows your heart. He desires only the best for you. He is making and molding you in His image. Do your part and be positive towards yourself. Trust the Hands of the Potter.
