Faith for when you do not understand.

Job is the Bible's honest book about suffering, and its ending is glory: God speaks from the whirlwind and restores. 8 original paintings from Job are available today, including Job 23:10 Golden Pathways, Job 26:12 He Breaks Up The Storm, and Job 12:22 Out Of Darkness.

About the Book of Job

Job may be the oldest book in the Bible, and it asks the oldest question: why do the righteous suffer? It refuses every easy answer. Job loses everything, his friends explain it badly, and Job keeps talking to God anyway, which turns out to be the whole point.

In the middle of the ruin he says the words that became a painting: he knoweth the way that I take; when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. Then God answers from the whirlwind, not with reasons but with Himself, and it is enough. The morning stars sang together, and Job's latter end is blessed more than his beginning.

Mark Lawrence paints Job in gold, because that is Job's own word for what the fire produces.

Questions people ask

What does Job 23:10 mean? In the middle of unexplained suffering, Job says God knows the way he is taking, and the trial is a refining: I shall come forth as gold. Golden Pathways is that verse in color.

Which Job painting comforts someone suffering? Job 12:22 Out Of Darkness and Job 26:12 He Breaks Up The Storm. They do not explain the storm; they name the One who is stronger than it.

Why abstract art for the Book of Job? Because God's answer to Job was not an explanation but a vision of glory. Abstract color can say what arguments cannot, which is exactly how the book ends.

“When he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” Job 23:10
