About the Gospel of John
John was the disciple Jesus loved, a fisherman who followed Him from the shore of Galilee to the foot of the cross. He wrote his Gospel late in life with one purpose, stated plainly: that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing, you may have life through His name.
John gives us the seven I AM sayings: the Bread of Life, the Light of the World, the Door, the Good Shepherd, the Resurrection and the Life, the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and the True Vine. He gives us the wedding at Cana, the woman at the well, and the empty tomb at dawn.
