The Secret Place
Psalm 31:20
“You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.” (NKJV)
Maybe today feels loud. Maybe words have worn you down—snide jokes, gossip you didn’t ask for, advice that cut instead of comforted. And every new voice just layers onto the ache, until all you want is a place beyond sound.
I remember the first time I stumbled into that hidden place inside me—a quiet spot where I could breathe. My world was a hamster wheel of criticism and expectation. At church I did everything right, but inside I felt hollow. One evening I knelt behind a closed door, just me and tears, and the hush felt nothing like emptiness. It felt like home. Jesus met me there.
Psalm 31:20 whispers of that secret pavilion—not a temple, not an audience, but a hush where God alone sings over you. No judgment, no performance, just acceptance and peace. You might not have felt that in a long time. But the secret place still exists. For you. Right now.
Picture God wrapping you in that space. Let the noise settle. Let the ache rest. It's not about escaping life, it’s about resting in Jesus.
An Invitation
If you’ve been gasping for stillness, come quietly with one word: “Jesus.” Wait. Let His presence be enough for this moment.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for a refuge that’s not built by words or performance. Show me Your secret place today, the one where I don’t have to pretend. Let me know I’m safe with You. Amen.
