Do Not Worry!

Matthew 6:34
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (NKJV)

Do Not Worry!

Some mornings arrive with heaviness before your feet even touch the floor. The sunlight peeks in, but your heart feels stuck in the shadows. Your mind starts racing- bills that won’t wait, deadlines you can’t dodge, relationships you can’t fix, and that quiet, stubborn question: What if it all falls apart?

I remember a season when worry lived in my bones. We had recently moved, bought a new home and I unexpectedly lost my job. Money felt thinner than air. I woke frequently in the early morning hours with a mind that refused to be still, rehearsing catastrophe after catastrophe. Tomorrow wasn’t a day; it was a looming storm and I had no umbrella.

One night, tired and hollow, I got on my knees and prayed something like: “Jesus, I am lost here without you. Please help me.” I knew that I deserved nothing good. I also knew that nothing happens unless God allows it.

As I focused my mind on how big and awesome God is, a steady calm arrived. Nothing dramatic, just a quiet proof that God is in control. That is what Matthew 6:34 gives us: permission to stop carrying tomorrow’s weight today and trust God to accomplish His will for our lives.

Sometimes faith looks like trusting God for the next decade. Other times it looks like trusting Him for the next ten minutes. The grace you need for tomorrow will arrive when tomorrow comes. For today, He offers strength, breath, and a quiet presence that refuses to abandon you.

If worry is pacing your heart, try this: pause. Breathe in. Breathe out. Say it softly, with no performance and no script: “Lord Jesus, I trust you. Help me just for now.” That small surrender is not weakness. It’s choosing Him over the runaway thoughts.

An Invitation

When the mind races into what-ifs, come back to this moment. You don’t have to solve everything today. Let Him hold the future while you live in this breath. If you can, say aloud: “Lord Jesus, I trust you. Help me just for now.”

Prayer

Lord, my thoughts run ahead and leave me unsteady. Slow me down. Teach me to live in the present where Your peace is given. Thank you for meeting me here today and for helping me to trust You with tomorrow. Amen.

If these words gave you a little more space to breathe, please share them with someone who’s carrying too much.

And if you don't yet know Jesus personally- the One who holds today and tomorrow; begin here:  Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior

Blessings to you!
