Line upon line is not the same as all at once. All at once is how we want to be healed. Line upon line is how it actually happens — one narrow band of color laid down, left to dry, then the next, until one morning the wall holds a whole painting that wasn't there the week before.

I painted this one in horizontal stripes on purpose. It's the verse made visible: not one grand stroke but a patient stack of them, here a little, there a little. That's how God rebuilt what pain had torn down in me. Slowly. In order. Without skipping a row.
