For forty years I've painted Scripture. Lately I've been doing something different with it — going back to the words behind the words.

The Bible wasn't written in English. So many verses I thought I knew carry far more in the Hebrew and Greek than our translations can hold. "Meek" isn't weakness- it's a war horse broken to the bridle, power held under restraint. That kind of discovery changes how you read.

So I've started a new devotional publication called VerseVoices. Each entry takes one verse you know by heart, restores the original word the English softened, pairs it with a new painting, and leaves you with a single sentence to carry through your day.
